Life Lessons (Quarantine Edition)

As my dad would always say, “life is a journey.”  And let me tell you, sis: it’s been quite the journey lately.  So after having written “Life Lessons for Everyone,”  I decided to write a lil sequel – quarantine edition wink.

So here are some lil life lessons quarantine has really emphasized:

Home is where the heart is

If I had a dollar for every time someone said to me “I never know what city you’re in,” ya girl would be effing rich affff.  But home isn’t a place – it’s a feeling.  And that “home” feeling is only created by certain people.  It doesn’t matter where you are or what you’re doing, it’s about the company you keep. Facts.

Family is important

I mean duh, this is pretty much a given.  But hey, it’s so easy to get caught up in your day to day busy life that family can easily get placed on the back burner.  It’s important to remember that at the end of the day, no matter what, your family will always be there for you. So make sure to call up your mom and dad today and tell them that you love them!  wink

Watch out for fake friends

People are fake affff.  Especially in the age of social media.  And especially if you live in SoCal.  Make sure to watch out for people who are only friends with you to gain something from you – ain’t nobody wants a snake in their lives!

You are not your job

Let me say this again for the people in the back: You. Are. Not. Your. Job.  You are YOU!  Yes, your job may be a part of you, but don’t let it consume your entire identity.

Life is unpredictable

If quarantine hasn’t taught you this, idk what will.  Life is a literal unpredictable shitshow.  But hey, it is what you make of it!  So surround yourself with good people and do what makes you happy.  Who knows what could happen tomorrow, so live your best life now!  (For tips on how to do this, go read my other post “How To Live Your Best Life“).

Actions speak louder than words

It doesn’t matter where you are in the world, if you truly value someone, you make them a priority.  Plain and simple.  Even during a global pandemic #noexcuses.  Also, a huge shoutout to FaceTime for making it easy to stay close to your friends/fam no matter the physical distance!  I honestly don’t know how I could make it through life without it…

Materialism doesn’t matter

Yeah, popping bottles at the club and flexing in your designer outfit for the gram might seem cool to you, but at the end of the day, none of that shit matters.  What matters is the people that are there for you, like really there for you, even in the darkest of times.  Plus, this bitch rather just wear a pair of sweatpants at her house wink
